STORY EDITS ARE MADE WHEN YOU….

Connect wholeheartedly with yourself and others.

Learn new and healthy coping strategies.

Recognize self-defeating inner dialogues and scripts.

Reframe cognitive distortions that affect the meaning attached to past experiences.

Replace lies that lead to shame, with truths that lead to freedom.

Overcome strongholds that lead to unhealthy behaviors and destructive relationships.

Heal the wounds from your past.

Live by design, and not by default.

Welcome to Story Edit Counseling. Every day a new page of your story is written. The content comes from life events, and let’s face it… the content isn’t always of your choosing. This is the thing though, you don’t always get to choose what happens, the content that is, but you do get to write the story.

What influences your story and the words you choose to write on every page? PERSPECTIVE.

Your interpretation, or PERSPECTIVE, is the lens through which you see the events in your life that create the details of your story.

Perceiving and interpreting the events in your life in real time happens automatically. It’s automatic, but not always accurate. So, here’s the thing then. The story you tell yourself (about yourself; about your life; about others; about your future; etc.), in the moment, may not always be accurate. Nonetheless, this story gets recorded and catalogued, and referenced, as life goes on.

What does this mean then? It means that these catalogued stories become the foundation of every page written thereafter, even if they are filled with misinformation and lies.  This often leads to what brings people to counseling, and the need for STORY EDITS.

Counseling always involves a journey inward towards greater truth about you and your unique design. Knowing yourself empowers you to become a truth-seeker as you write and live your story. In doing this, you can bring healing to old chapters, and move towards healthy change as new chapters are written.

You can’t change the events of your past. But you can CHANGE YOUR STORY. These are perspective shifts. These are STORY EDITS.

“Pulling back the curtain” on yourself and your life takes courage, and at Story Edit Counseling, this step in your healing journey is held with respect and dignity.
